Axiom xCell Awarded GoMetro Mobile Apps Project
For Real-Time Transit Schedules
SAN DIEGO – Axiom xCell, a mobile applications developer based in San Diego, California, was awarded
a contract from the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority
(Metro) to develop mobile applications to help increase transit usage.
The four-month project will result in the development of a mobile app to provide travelers with real-time transit bus and train
schedules, maps and timetables, nearest transit locations and announcements
concerning service updates.
“We'll integrate location-based services, social networking, in a
smart, easy-to-use mobile app that delivers real-time information to the Los
Angeles region – making Metro’s transit services even more attractive and
practical,” said Axiom xCell Vice President and General Manager Ray Traynor.
Metro Executive Director Art Leahy was quick to note that the apps will be free
and available from the app stores in the coming months.
“Having a presence in the mobile world is a must,” he said. “With an increasingly large number of our customers accessing the Internet from their mobile phone, we’re providing real-time information to user’s fingertips, promoting individual choice and mobility.”
